As the newest addition to Samsung’s DRAM portfolio, the 1066Mbps (533MHz) RDRAM RIMMs, available in 128MB, 256MB and 512MB densities, provide the highest performance memory currently on the market. The PC1066 RIMMs are available in both 16bit and 32bit configurations for a variety of PC applications. Samsung is now delivering PC1066 RDRAM RIMM modules to major PC companies and memory module vendors. PC1066 memory is used in computers based on the i850E core-logic.

Samsung is currently the largest volume supplier of RDRAM RIMMs and is the world’s leading supplier of RDRAM memory, with more than a 80%. The second largest company to produce RDRAM is Elpida and the other semiconductor makers either stopped to make RDRAM or just manufacture it in very insignificant quantities. Samsung intends to continue its leadership role in RDRAM memory by being first-to-market with leading-edge products in a wide range of configurations and densities.

Unfortunately for Samsung and Elpida, the RDRAM era on the personal computer field will soon end without starting to lead in terms of market share. In fact, there were numerous companies to manufacture RDRAM in the year 2000, at the moment, there are only two of them, who can really influence the market.

Presently the share of RDRAM memory among all types of DRAM is about 4%.
