VIA Technologies, the world’s second largest supplier of core-logic devices for mainboards who now also sells microprocessors, different controllers, sound and communicational chips and even mainboards, announced its financial results for October.

Total revenue for the month achieved approximately $72.78 million, on a sequential basis, a 19.90% increase over September's figure of about $60.70 million. Monthly revenue is still 16.85% lower compared to October’s sales results of 2001 ($87.52 million). In total, VIA Technologies earned about $604.65 million for the first three quarters this year, almost two times more compared to SiS’ figure, but a 28.25% less than during the same period last year.

VIA Technologies makes its best to earn more money from their products not connected with chipsets for mainboards. Basically, Intel succeeded in stopping VIA from selling the Socket 478 platform intended products: the market share of Taipei, Taiwan-based company on the Pentium 4 field is very low and will continue to decrease as Intel continues to sue VIA and prohibit the company to sell the mentioned devices on certain markets.

At the moment VIA makes great efforts in order to push their rather perspective devices, such as Eden platform, C3 processors, USB 2.0 and LAN controllers to the market. Their relatively high revenue was achieved also due to their successful diversification policy.
