Well, it seems that ASUSTeK computer started to target the low-end market segment very aggressively with its Hua Ching subsidiary, who sells mainboards under ASRock brand-name. Apparently, the company is going to supply about 200 thousands of mainboards in the first month of its business and what is more importantly, ASRock products now appear all around the world.

We recently reported that ASRock’s mainboard K7VT2 based on VIA KT266A core-logic had made its appearance in Germany (see this news-story) and the G PRO mainboard was showcased in Asia (see this news-story). During the weekend we were contacted by several retailers from the USA, who told us that numerous distributors now offer them ASRock mainboards powered by SiS and VIA chipsets for Socket 478 and Socket A platform respectively. The prices on the parts are very low even in retail: starting from $60 in the USA and 65 Euros in Europe. Basically, ASRock solutions compete mostly with the products from Elitegroup Computer and there is no competition between them and ASUS’ own products.

Hua Ching was originally formed in order to sell products on the cost-sensitive markets, for instance, in Asia, South-America, Africa and so on, however, due to current market conditions the products are being sold even in the USA and Western Europe.

I was also very surprised to hear the number of mainboards Hua Ching is going to ship in the first month. Even the leading second-tier makers sometime cannot supply 200 thousands of platforms per month, not talking about a new company. Basically, since ASUSTeK has very well-developed sales channels its subsidiary is rather easy to find new customers and become a very successful company in the nearest future.
