Just about a week after the announcement of the first “golden mainboards” ever (see this news-story), Soltek Computer launches another couple of models with the same feature for those khalifs, who have computer cases made of gold and the Socket A processors with silver heatsinks installed in.

Frankly speaking, I find nothing interesting in this product, except the yellow colour of the PCB, have a look at the list of specs:

  • Supports all Socket A Athlon XP/Athlon/Duron CPUs with 200, 266 or 333MHz FSB;
  • NVIDIA nForce2 SPP chipset with NVIDIA MCP-family I/O controller;
  • 3 DIMM slots for up to 3GB of PC2100 and PC2700 or DDR400 memory. Dual-channel memory bus support: the memory modules should be identical and installed in pairs;
  • 5 PCI and 1 AGP 8x slot;
  • 2-channel integrated ATA-33/66/100/133 controller;
  • Serial ATA-150 controller from Promise, providing 2 Serial ATA-150 ports and 1 Parallel ATA-33/66/100/133 port (SL-75FRN-R only);
  • 6 USB ports;
  • Integrated AC'97 6-channel audio solution with SPDIF support;
  • Overclocking functions, including FSB Setting, Vcore Setting, AGP Voltage, DIMM Voltage, and Multiplier Setting and so on;
  • Software bundle and Soltek’s proprietary features are also present;
  • ATX form-factor.

I wonder, how many of such mainboards will be sold worldwide? The previous “Golden Flame” series was available in limited quantity only, so, this nForce2 powered family also should not be a mainstream solution.

By the way, I have not a clue in regards the price of the product.
