As always, ASUSTeK Computer was the most successful company among the hardware makers in November, however, even they experienced only a very slight increase in sales and earned $396.44 million including China holding company (approximately $220.26 million without it), just about 1% more than in the previous month. In total, ASUS shipped 1.4 million of mainboards, 400 thousands, or 22%, less compared to October. Fortunately, due to pre-Christmas season Sony is ahorse these days with its PlayStation2 consoles and already in November they increased their orders and that is one of the reasons why ASUS did not experienced any downturns last month.
ECS also felt a 10.8 % decline in demand on their mainboards and only sold 1.8 million of units. On the other hand, their notebook sales rose 92% in November because they had to delay their iBook shipments to Apple. As a result, they shipped about 120 or 130 thousands of mobile computers in November including their OEM products. ECS’ revenue achieved about $187.79 million last month that represents 23.7%.
MSI, the primary NVIDIA’s manufacturing partner again enjoyed great sales of its graphics cards, but saw a downturn in their mainboard business. It is estimate that the company sold 1 million of graphics cards and about 1.45 million of mainboards. Their revenue was down 8.2% at $166.26 million.
Gigabyte Technology revenue fell 1% to $91.78 million and sold less than 1.3 million of mainboards. No information about their graphics cards business.
To sum up, the key to success is a lot of OEM orders from the world’s biggest vendors. In case the customers sell non-PC related products, it is very good: as we see, consoles and iBooks are sold pretty well these days.
