TYAN today announced it had begun shipping of the TYAN Trinity KT400 (S2495) mainboard. I think you can easily guess what chipset the novelty is based on, meanwhile I would concentrate on sharing some additional details about this product that should have come a month or two ago:
  • Supports all Socket A Athlon XP/Athlon/Duron processors;
  • VIA KT400 chipset with VT8235 I/O Controller;
  • 3 DIMM slots for up to 3GB of PC2100 (DDR266), PC2700 (DDR333) and DDR400 DDR SDRAM;
  • 6 PCI and 1 AGP 8x slot;
  • 2-channel integrated ATA-33/66/100/133 controller;
  • Optional RAID controller;
  • Optional Serial ATA controller;
  • 10/100/Mbit/s Ethernet Adapter;
  • 6 USB 2.0 ports;
  • Integrated AC`97 6-channel audio solution with SP/DIF connectors;
  • Optional POST code display;
  • Overclocking functions and tweaking capabilities;
  • ATX Form-factor.

No word about pricing or availability, but given that VIA plans soon to launch a number of more advanced chipsets for the Socket A platform, TYAN shoud better start selling its KT400 based mainboard immediately.
