Although computer hardware manufacturers from Taiwan produce most of the PCB-based components for personal computers on the planet, some of them have to find additional sources of revenue due to weak demand on PCs. This year numerous mainboard makers started to outsource their production, performed different actions in order to cut down their costs and also started to launch new lines of products.

In fact, a lot of devices manufactured by Taiwanese companies never leave the Asia-Pacific region, however, the makers always try to widen their market presence and their products will soon start to appear all around the world. I decided to compile all the information I currently know about consumer products from different Taiwanese producers in one list for your convenience:

  • ABIT – 1U Servers, Barebones;
  • ASUS – Barebones, PDAs, Mobile Phones, Optical Drives, Notebooks;
  • Albatron – LCD Monitors, LCD TVs (to start in late 2002 or early 2003);
  • Biostar – LCD PCs (all-in-one personal computers);
  • Chaintech – Set-top-boxes;
  • Gigabyte Technology - LCD Monitors, Panel PCs;
  • DFI - Applied Computing Platforms;
  • ECS - LCD PCs (all-in-one personal computers), Desknotes;
  • FIC – Barebones, Tablet PCs;
  • Jetway – Barebobes, LCD Monitors;
  • MSI – LCD Monitors, Tablet PCs, Optical Drives;
  • Prolink – LCD Monitors, LCD TVs;
  • Shuttle – Barebones.

All the mentioned companies expect their business to prosper and allow them to occupy strong market positions while growing further.
