So, this week, Intel made an official press-release announcing three new Pentium 4 processors intended for the new 533MHz QP system bus (all the previous models supported 400MHz bus). These new CPUs work at 2.53GHz ($637 in 1,000-unit quantities), 2.4GHz ($562 in 1,000-unit quantities, which is the same as 2.4GHz/400MHz costs) and 2.26GHz ($423, which is the same as 2.2GHz/400MHz costs).

Together with the CPUs, Intel announced a new i850E chipset supporting RDRAM, which differs from the good old i850 by the new system bus support and “semi-official” PC1066 support. Just like the predecessor, i850E chipset goes with the old ICH2 chips that is why it boasts similar features here (i845E due a bit later this month will be accompanied by the new ICH4 supporting USB 2.0). The official price of i850E chipset makes $37 for 1,000-unit quantities and up, however, I have no doubt that it will sell cheaper for large customers of Intel’s.

We posted our new review covering the performance and features of the new Intel Pentium 4 2.4B GHz with 533MHz Bus and i845E chipset. Check it out here if you haven’t yet had the chance!
