Japanese hardware stores are known to be the first places to get the newest hardware. This tradition hasn’t yet changed: one of the Japanese stores will offer a new Gigabyte GA-8IEXP mainboard based on i845E chipset for around $185 on May 2.

The new solution is designed in ATX form-factor, supports Socket478 Pentium 4 processors with 533MHz/400MHz QP FSB. It is equipped with 3 DIMM slots for up to 2GB PC2100/PC1600 DDR SDRAM, 6 PCI, 1 CNT and 1 AGP 4x slot, USB 2.0, ATA/100, IEEE1394 and AC’97 sound.

I would like to mention one very interesting thing: the demo mainboard features not a mass ICH4 chip, but its engineering sample marked as "Intel Secret". Hopefully, the mainboards to start selling on May 2 will not reveal any company secrets :)
