Without much stir (in order not to upset SiS that much, I suppose) MSI announced the launching of their new mainboard, 645E Max2 (MS-6567) based on a new SiS645DX chipset.

You can read about the problems SiS is facing now with its 645DX solution here, and we would like to address the specifications of the novelty, which look pretty solid. By the way, the mainboard specifications do state that it supports Pentium 4 processors with 533MHz Quad Pumped bus that is why SiS’ persistent attempts to deny the 533MHz bus support look more than funny.

So, here are some details about the new MSI 645E Max2 mainboard. It is designed in ATX form-factor, support Socket478 Pentium 4 processors with 400/533MHz QP bus. The mainboard is equipped with 3 DIMM slots for up to 3GB PC1600/PC2100/PC2700 DDR SDRAM, 5 PCI, 1 AGP 4x and 1 CNR slot. Due to SiS961B South Bridge it supports ATA/133 protocol, 10/100 Ethernet (in 645E Max2-L and 645E Max2-LRU models), features ATA/133 RAID controller (645E Max2-LRU), USB 2.0 controller from NEC (645E Max2-LRU), 6-channel ALC 650 audio codec (with SPDIF Out). The mainboard supports MSI’s brand Fuzzy Logic3, Live BIOS, Live Driver, Live Monitor, D-Bracket (optional), S-Bracket (optional). So, what else does a person need to build a worthy Pentium 4 based system?
