As you remember, the first mainboard didn’t have any PC133/PC100 SDRAM DIMM slots and was called P4IBAD (arousing associations with the phrase “Intel Bad”). However, this is not the only difference between the boards. P4IBASD may be also provided with an onboard USB 2.0 controller, however, it has no 6th PCI slot. Other specs are the same: ATX form-factor, Socket478, 2 DIMM slots for up to 2GB/4 banks PC2100/PC1600 DDR SDRAM, 1 CNR slot, ATA/100 protocol support, AC’97 sound, an optional RealTek 8100/B Ethernet 10/100 controller, MagicSetting technology support/
In fact, you will agree that it is pretty strange to see the new i845 based mainboard announcement (even though it is B0 stepping) when there is so little time left before the launching of i845E. However, Pentium 4 processors with 400Mhz bus haven’t been discontinued yet, so this mainboard will surely find its customers. Especially, since it promises to be not very expensive.
