In spite of the fact, that the release of the new Intel i845E and i845G chipsets with 533MHz bus support is scheduled for May, mainboard manufacturers have almost completed the development of their new boards, based on these chips, and are launching their serial production. In these circumstances, it’s no wonder that the information about the boards is starting to squeeze to the Web.

I have discovered today, that some of the companies are already beginning to announce products, based on the new Intel chipsets, by publishing the products specs on their websites. For example, specifications of i845E and i845G based mainboards have appeared on Taiwan Acorp Company website.

Let’s make a closer look on these products. Acorp mainboard based on i845E chipset has the name G4D845AP. This mainboard has ATX form-factor, supports Socket 478 processors and has a new ICH4 South Bridge with a built-in USB 2.0 hub. The mainboard has two DDR DIMM slots with official support of PC2100/PC1600 DDR SDRAM and unofficial support of DDR333 memory, has an AGP 4x – slot and six PCI slots. There are four USB 2.0 ports on the board. Also, Acorp G4D845AP has an integrated ATA-133 RAID controller from Promise and a six-channel sound controller from C-Media.

The second mainboard, G4D845G, is based on i845G chipset, which has an embedded graphics core. This board has the same specifications as the previous one, but without PCI sound controller. It has an AC’97 codec instead.

Both boards support overclocking with 1MHz increment and Vcore voltage increase.

It should be noted, that the above mentioned specifications give us the picture of the new capacities of i845E and i845G chipsets. First of all, they are dealing with memory subsystems. Despite of the fact, that the maximal size of DDR SDRAM supported in the new chipsets has remained 2 GB, they will be able to work (though, non-officially) with DDR333 memory.
