VIA Company has commented the rumors about its intention to buy the STMicroelectronics graphics department. It was found, that the companies negotiate, but VIA is much more interested in cooperation with STM graphics department, rather than buying it.

Certainly, from the point of economic risk minimization, its much more favorable to buy a license for the use of a graphic core in system chipsets, than to buy the whole department. The question is, whether STM is going to give such a license. We’ll be waiting for further reports...
