Transcend company, famous by its mainboards and memory modules, has announced opening of its own graphics department. It is said that the first Transcend graphic-cards production will begin in the next month.

Transcend has chosen ATI and SiS for the role of its graphic-chips providers. This choice is explained by the fact that ATI’s chips have the best ratio of price/performance today while SiS’s developments are dramatically cheap. At first Transcend graphic-card line will consist of three products: boards based on RADEON 8500LE, RADEON 7500 and SiS315.

Also, Transcend is planning gradually to wrap up (or at least, shorten) mainboard production because this product hasn’t been very popular with the consumers.

We should say, it’s partly ATI’s influence, that mainboard manufacturers who haven’t dealt with graphics before, open this line, new to them. This Canadian company works closely with mainboard manufacturers attracting them with significant discounts and a smart product support program. As a result, some other companies will join Transcend in the nearest future. For example, SOYO Company has reported its intention to start production of video-boards based on RADEON 8500 and RADEON 7500 chips. Moreover, it is likely that SOYO will go even further and will be offering mainboard + video-card bundles to the consumers.
