In the light of the upcoming CeBIT show, AMD has announced 3 new CPUs in Athlon XP, Athlon MP and Athlon 4 lines. It’s interesting to know, that all of the new processors are based on the old Palomino core and are made with 0.18-micron technology. That is why, in opposition to numerous reports of various sources we can confirm that AMD sticks to its schedule, made earlier. It means that the first 0.13 micron CPUs with Thoroughbred core will be released later.

Here is the detailed description of the announced newcomers:

• Athlon XP 2100+. A desktop processor with actual frequency of 1733 MHz. Price - $420
• Athlon MP 2000+. A server CPU version with actual frequency of 1667 MHz, capacity to support work in dual-processor configuration. Official price - $415.
• Athlon 4 1600+. Mobile processor with actual frequency of 1400 MHz and PowerNow! technology support. Unlike 2 other processors, this one works with a 200MHz bus. It’s necessary to note that Athlon 4 1600+ has a worse performance than that of Athlon XP 1600+, because AMD desktop CPUs use a faster, 266MHz-bus. Athlon 4 1600+ price - $380.

All of the processors described will be manufactured with 0.18-micron technology at Fab30 in Dresden. Together with the release of its new CPUs, AMD has profoundly decreased the official prices for its mobile Athlon 4 line. Athlon 4 1500+ dropped to $250 from $525, 1.2 GHz Athlon 4 now costs $190 instead of $425, new price for 1.1 GHz Athlon 4 is now $175 instead of $290, and 1.0 GHz Athlon 4 is $150 vs. old price of $260.
