CeBIT is coming, and it means that Hi-Tech manufacturers start making press-releases about the products they are going to showcase at this event. Mostly, these press-releases are just PR-actions, as I wouldn’t draw your attention to them, if it were not for some interesting stuff I came across.
So, let’s turn to a press-release made by Elitegroup, the current world’s leader in the mainboard supplies:
- At the show we will be able to see mainboards based on SiS645DX (L4S5A rev. 3.0) and SiS648 (L4S7A). It means that SiS really has every chance to announce new chipsets at CeBIT. However, things may take a different turning: Elitegroup, as SiS’ closest partner may have already received the first engineering samples of the new chipsets long before their official announcement. If you are looking for some info on these chipsets, please see this news story.
- Also they will showcase mainboards based on SiS745 (K7S6A), KT333 (K7VTA rev. 3.0) and L4IBAE (i845E), but it is not so interesting.
- A much more interesting thing is the fact that the company is going to demonstrate graphics cards on SiS315, SiS315E and SiS330. If the things with SiS315 and SiS330 are more or less clear (see this news story on SiS330), then what is SiS315E? Is it a mistake? Maybe it is a SiS315 with AGP 8s support…
- Significant attention will be paid to notebooks: a new field for Elitegroup, where they started working after purchasing Alpha-Top. They will showcase i-Buddie notebook on VIA C3, the already mentioned in our news i-Buddie 4 (on the desktop Pentium 4) and a new notebook called i-Buddie XP based on Athlon XP. It looks as if they decided to deal with notebooks to replace desktop systems pretty seriously.
- Also the guys will show PDA G200 working under Win CE or Linux.
