Some Details on SiS646 and SiS648. [02/24/2002 11:53 PM]

We received a word from our non-official sources about SiS645 and SiS648 chipsets for Pentium 4 CPUs.
  • SiS646 (for specs click here). SiS has either thought this chipset to be not fresh enough to be given another order number, or it has decided to reduce the numbers in chipset names (there are good many of them - SiS648, SiS651, SiS655 and SiS660). This chipset will be called SIS645DX (well, our assumption seems to be true). This chipset is reported to arrive late this month or in mid-March at CeBIT 2002. No information about the shipments is available yet.After all, it makes no sense to start the shipments earlier than Pentium 4/533MHz QP come out in the second quarter (for details see this news story).
  • SiS648 (for specs click here). This chipset is reported to be announced at CeBIT 2002. Not a words is said about the beginning of mass shipments, which is no surprise at all considering the advanced specs (DDR400/PC3200 support alone would be quite enough).
