Alienware Unleashes Star Wars

Alienware, a manufacturer of expensive high-performance PCs, this week unveiled its systems with captures from the popular motion picture series Star Wars on their cases. The computers feature already proven technologies, like NVIDIA multi-GPU capability SLI, but their main attraction in the design of the cases, not any brand-new techs.

“Star Wars indisputably ranks as one of the most popular movie franchises of all time, yet had never been featured on a PC, so Alienware worked with Star Wars to fill that void once and for all,” said Robert Lusk, vice president of sales and marketing for Alienware. “The result of this collaboration, the Aurora: Star Wars Edition, offers an irresistible mix of both visual appeal and power that is sure to make an unforgettable impression on Star Wars fans and computer enthusiasts alike.”

Star Wars-series computers are based on up to AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 processors as well as NVIDIA nForce4 SLI core-logic. Users may choose to equip their computers with up to two NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra graphics cards for enhanced performance in modern games. Systems’ price starts at $1499 for a mainstream configuration.

The Dark Side version of the Aurora: Star Wars Edition system features a case design that captures the imposing presence of Darth Vader and the rest of the evil Imperial forces in lifelike detail. Showcasing an equally impressive case design, the Light Side system displays the vivid images of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Luke Skywalker and the other heroic figures of the Star Wars galaxy in full action.  The Light Side system further enhances the Star Wars experience by including a Jedi wallpaper and desktop skin, while the Dark Side system counters with an exclusive Imperial wallpaper and desktop skin that deliver the unmistakable look and feel of the Dark Side.

 Both versions of the Aurora: Star Wars Edition come bundled with numerous exclusive items such as free membership to the official online Star Wars fan club, Hyperspace, and Sony Star Wars Video Journey samples, which include sample music from the movie soundtrack.
