Asustek Computer, a leading maker of computer components and notebooks, has unveiled a new incarnation of Asus Eee PC, a small form-factor desktop system. The new Eee Box will compete against entry-level products by other makers, but will offer not only relatively low price, but also very compact size.
<%BANNER[article]%>Asus Eee Box is based on Intel Atom N270 (1.60GHz) processor and an Intel chipset, features 1GB of DDR2 memory, 80GB hard disk drive, Wi-Fi 802.11n controller, Gigabit Ethernet as well as a card reader. Asus Eee Box does not feature optical disk drive, hence, can hardly be considered as a multimedia-oriented personal computer. The system comes with Windows XP Home operating system.
The manufacturer ships Eee Box without monitor, which may be a negative peculiarity for those clients looking for a stylish personal computers which match displays in terms of design.
The launch of Asus Eee Box is inline with Asustek Computer’s strategy to broaden the family of Eee-branded devices to address new markets of personal computers.
Pricing of Asus Eee Box is unclear.
