Having announced three new product families yesterday, high-end GeForce4 Ti, value GeForce4 MX and mobile GeForce4 Go, NVIDIA still left one more market segment untouched. I am talking about the professional 3D accelerators market, where the fastest solution is still Quadro DCC based on the previous generation GeForce3 chip. Nevertheless, it doesn’t at all mean that NVIDIA will introduce no professional solutions based on GeForce4 architecture (NV25). It is simply planned to happen a bit later.
As I found out from my reliable source, the professional products from NVIDIA should be announced in April 2002. New High-performance professional solutions based on NV25 architecture will retain the name “Quadro”, which will get a “4” at the end, as usual. Quadro4 family will include two models: faster NVIDIA Quadro4 900XGL and slower NVIDIA Quadro4 750XGL. Both professional solutions, just like in case of their predecessors, will be built on the same GeForce4 chips used in the graphics accelerators. That is why the major differences between the professional and gaming families will lie with the drivers. Quadro4 babies will work at the same frequencies as GeForce4. NVIDIA Quadro4 900XGL will be clocked at 300MHz chip and 600MHz memory, while NVIDIA Quadro4 750XGL – at 275MHz chip and 550MHz memory. NVIDIA may also introduce the third Quadro model – Quadro4 700XGL, which will support even lower working frequencies.<%BANNER[article]%>
The exclusive supplies of Quadro4 graphics cards remained the same: ELSA, which will announce two cards: Quadro4 900XGL and Quadro4 750XGL sold under Gloria IV brand name.
Also NVIDIA is planning to release some professional GeForce4 MX versions, however, I don’t have any details for you on that now, unfortunately.
