Well, how eagerly some Taiwanese companies give promises! For instance, SiS, which sold about 13.9 million system chipsets and about 3.78 million graphics chips last year, promised to increase these numbers up to 39 and 8 million correspondingly, according to Digitimes. In other words, they are planning to triple the system chipsets sales and to double those of the graphics chips.
At first sight, there seems to be nothing special about it. We can only be happy that the company is capable to increase its production volumes so rapidly. Especially, since its chipsets are really good from many viewpoints. However, some not very encouraging reminiscences come to our mind when we think about it. Remember, for instance, that last April SiS already promised something similar (see this news story), hoping probably that we will forget about it by the end of the year. But we do remember everything pretty well ;-) In fact, the promised "80 thousand wafers in Q4’01" turned into 60 thousand (which was promised to be reached in Q2’01). Could the things take the same turning this time as well?
