The guys over at the French Clubic reported the first "benchmarks" results for the upcoming GeForce4 chips (GeForce4 Ti4600 and GeForce4 MX440). I decided to put the word "benchmarks" into inverted commas because these were not the tests they did themselves. First, these numbers were provided by one graphics card manufacturer, and second, the tests were run with the resolution set to 800x600x16bit with Pentium III 500MHz CPU (thank you for not taking Pentium II!) with 128MB of SDRAM. Anyway, the choice of this antediluvian configuration could be justified by the fact that the guys were simply collecting the results for all the chips starting from long time ago (they even have SiS305 and Rage128 Ultra there).
Of course, we can’t say anything definite judging by these numbers that is why I will not dwell on them. Especially, since there are no exact numbers anyway. So, just take note of this info and wait patiently for the real benchmarks to come.
