We came across another press release from VIA saying that the company is intended to support the leading manufacturers promoting DDR333 (PC2700). An upcoming summit to be held on February 20 will unite such names as AMD, Micron Technology, Samsung Semiconductor, Hynix Semiconductor and Infineon Technologies. Of course, Intel officials won’t be present there because of the current mutual lawsuits with VIA.
By the by, a year ago (in February-March of 2001) VIA made decisive moves to promote two older DDR SDRAM standards (DDR200 and DDR266). The results were quite distinct - the manufacturers finally began to lower the prices. We wonder how the things will stand this time...
