Maxtor today announced their new external storage solution aka Personal Storage 3000XT with 160GB storage capacity and IEEE 1394 Firewire interface.
As you can guess, this device is an analog of a well-known 7,200rpm DiamondMax D540X HDD built with 40GB platters, which was announced last September (see this news story). New Maxtor storage solution goes together with an external power supply adapter, standard 6-pin IEEE 1394 cable, user’s manual and installation software. The device is selling for some $399.95.
The official company press-release devoted to the announcement of Personal Storage 3000XT points out separately that it is possible to connect 62 devices of the kind to a PC at a time. Just imagine what the whole thing will look like. Especially, 62 PSUs :-)
