As we have already forecast, Dual Socket A mainboards built on the new AMD-760MPX chipset started selling before the end of the year 2001. This week, some Japanese stores began offering these mainboards in retail. The pioneer among the products with the new AMD-768 South Bridge appeared ASUS. Their A7M266-D mainboard was noticed by several Japanese hardware retailers at a time.
We will not repeat the specs of this mainboard, as we have already told you about it here. We would only like to mention that this board currently costs around $260. Well, we wouldn’t call ASUS A7M266-D a cheap product. Hopefully, the solutions from other manufacturers will change the pricing situation for the better somehow.
