Today Lucky Star sent us a press-release about the announcement of a new mainboard based on the today’s popular SiS645 chipset.
Lucky Star P4SAD solution makes us believe that we are looking at a new bestseller from this company, which have been quite a common thing some time ago. At least it has everything necessary to become it: low cost chipset with good performance, promising processor socket (Socket478 for Pentium 4 CPUs), promising memory slots (supporting PC2700/PC2100/PC1600 DDR SDRAM), and no superfluous parts (such as RAID controllers, expensive sound, LAN, etc.). And of course, this company has a pretty good reputation among its customers.
The only thing this solution lacks is ATA/133 support, but it is not that important for the low-cost systems. As for reliability, we would like to say that almost all the mainboard manufacturers have now learnt to make reliable products, and the quality of Lucky Star mainboards has never aroused any grave reproaches, as we remember.
