We keep receiving new info about the new solutions built on the upcoming i845 B-Step chipset, which have already started selling in some Japanese hardware stores, despite Intel’s insistent claims to hold them before January 2002. The mainboard we are going to tell you about today hasn’t started selling yet, because it is made by … Intel!
The solution is called Intel D845BG and its specs are pretty boring, as those of any reference board. It is designed in ATX form-factor, supports Socket478 Pentium 4 CPUs, features 2 DIMM slots for up to 2GB PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM, 6 PCI and 1 CNR slot. It supports ATA/100 (due to ICH2), AC’97 sound.
This solution is most likely to start selling in early January 2002. Its retail price hasn’t been yet reported, however, we expect it to be around $140.
