Elitegroup made an official press-release where they announced the launching of their K7S6A mainboard on SiS745 chipset.
We have already told you quite a lot about this mainboard (see this news story), however, we would still like to remind you for the mainboard specs once again, especially since they are much more detailed this time. The board is designed in ATX form-factor, supports Socket A processors and has 3 DIMM slots for the maximum of 1GB PC2700 or 1.5GB PC2100/PC1600 DDR SDRAM. Besides, there are 5 PCI slots, an AGP 4x slot and 1 CNR slot. The board supports ATA/100, AC’97 sound (line In and Out, Mic In, CD-In and Game port). Unfortunately, 10/100 Ethernet or IEEE 1394 (Firewire) are not laid out, though the chipset does support them.
Now we look forward to the first benchmark results and its appearance in retail. As far as we know so far, this chipset should be faster than its SiS735 predecessor and is expected to be comparable with that of VIA KT266A. However, the cost of SiS745 should be much lower, which will make the mainboards based on it cheap as well. The sources report that K7S6A will sell for some $90, which is quite little for a modern ATX mainboards supporting DDR SDRAM.
