VIA today announced their new VT6302 chip, which is a dual-port physical layer controller supporting IEEE 1394 and IEEE 1394a 2.0 interfaces.
The chip working at the general 3.3V and supporting up to 400Mbit/sec data transfer rate per port can be combined with 1394-to-IDE bridge as well as with different South Bridges, which allow connecting a physical layer controller. The new chip is already shipping. The price hasn’t been announced yet for some reasons.
