NVIDIA arranged a real show event having made up its mind to give way to mocking at the former competitor, which they now own completely. We are talking about Voodoo Graphics. Together with PNY Technologies, which produces graphics cards on NVIDIA chips and sells them under Verto brand name, they announced the beginning of a promotion campaign under an ironic slogan: "Got Voodoo – Get Verto!" During a limited period of time (we believe it will last till the New Year) the users buying PNY Verto MX400, GeForce2 Ti or GeForce3 Ti500 graphics cards will get a cash-back bonus from $10 to $30 if they discard a graphics card based on any of the Voodoo chips. Note that the amount of cash-back bonus depends not on the Voodoo card discarded but on the NVIDIA card purchased.
In other words, we have every reason to state that the Voodoo based graphics card will be discarded almost for free, as the bonus size doesn’t exceed the regular promotion-discount granted by some on-line stores, for instance. However, those users who will buy PNY Verto GeForce3 Ti500 will get one more free gift: stereoscopic glasses from i-O Display Systems (they cost $49.99), however, again we have to stress that in many cases this kind of free gift goes as default with the cards of the kind. Besides, these graphics cards costs range so greatly that you will be able to easily find the one for some $50 less.
No way, we won’t give away our Voodoo3 2000 remaining since the last upgrade :-) Especially, since it can still beat GeForce2 MX 400 in some games (in Unreal, for example).
