Creative Labs Sells Barebone PCs. Made by Shuttle

Creative Technology is not enough its already broadest range of multimedia solutions in the industry and now they are going to enter the market of Barebone PCs. This week the company announced its Creative Slix barebone computer based on the Pentium 4 processor.

The Slix barebone will include a stylish aluminium case, a mainboard and a power-supply unit with the special liquid cooling system. The unique design on this PC allows to use only one cooling fan for the whole system, as a result, Creative Slix should be rather quiet. The company emphasise that its novelty provides such new technologies as USB2.0, IEEE1394 FireWire, onboard LAN, 6-channel audio, integrated 3D-accelerator, etc. <%BANNER[article]%>

Talking about technical side of this barebone computer, we should say that the newcomer is based on the Pentium 4 processor and SiS650 chipset. Here is the list of technical specifications:

• Socket 478 Intel Pentium 4 CPU with 400 or 533MHz system bus;
• SiS651 North Bridge, SiS962L South Bridge;
• Up to 2GB of PC1600/2100/2700 DDR SDRAM memory supported;
• AGP 4x slot;
• 1 additional PCI slots;
• 4 USB 2.0 ports (two on the front panel and two on the back panel);
• SPDIF in (on the back panel) and SPDIF out (on the front panel);
• 3 IEEE1394 ports (one on the front panel and two on the back panel);
• Integrated graphics core;
• Integrated sound core;
• 10/100Mbit Ethernet controller;
• 2 ATA-133 channels;
• PS/2 connectors;
• 200W power-supply unit;
• One 80mm cooling fan with CPU radiator system;
• One 5.25” and one 3.5” compartments;
• Aluminium case with containing hardware weights 2.85 kilograms;

As we know, Creative Technology does not manufacture everything they sell. Their graphics cards are manufactured either by MSI or Power Color, some of their CD-ROM drives used to be made by Samsung. We see the same with this barebone computer. It is nothing, but a recently announced Shuttle XPC SS51G with similar capabilities and even outlook. You can view it here.
