Yesterday we reported that Mitac had acquired TYAN and hence some changes were going to happen in the location of the headquarters as well as R&D labs (see this news-story). Today I have a little more information to share with you, moreover, I also need to clarify some statements made yesterday.

First of all, none of the Research & Development staff are being moved to Taiwan. The server and workstation products will be developed in the USA as before. Additionally, there will be established another engineering crew of about 40 to 50 engineers to develop the desktop products like mainboards for a single CPU or graphics cards in Taiwan. They will also take card of barebone servers. Pushed by Mitac, TYAN is now going to expand on the rapidly-growing Asian market. As a result, the company will offer more consumer-oriented products there. <%BANNER[article]%>

As for the new management board, we should add that Symon Chang will remain on his position of the CEO and the president of the company, while Mitac’s head, Francis Tsai will become TYAN’s new chairman.
