The introduction date of the new i845-series of chipsets was reported at this site. According to them, Intel will unveil their i845GE, i845GV and i845PE on October the 7th. The company has been supplying its new core-logic devices from mid-August, so, we can expect the new mainboards to start appearing on the market during the second week of October.
Both i845PE and i845GE support 533MHz system bus, PC2700 DDR SDRAM memory, the HyperThreading technology and will feature ICH4 as I/O controller. The first one is a discrete solution and the successor of the famous i845E, while the second is an updated version of the i845G. The remaining i845GV is rumoured to support the HyperThreading, but is positioned as a replacement for the i845GL low-end core-logic. The newcomer still has no AGP, but provides 533MHz FSB.<%BANNER[article]%>
This month the semiconductor giant will also start sampling its first mainstream chipset with 2-channel DDR SDRAM and 667MHz processor bus implemented. The code-named Springdale is set to appear by the end of the second quarter 2003. Given that mainboard makers will be able to work on their own designs starting from now, we believe that the Spring’s novelty will also appear just on time and ready to rock the market. What about 0.09 micron Prescott processor?
