A interesting news bit appeared on Nvchips-fr. According to this post, the first graphics card based on NVIDIA GeForce3 chip (no one doubts that it will be the official name of the rumored NV20), which was mentioned in the hardware stores price-lists was Hercules 3D Prophet III with 64MB DDR SDRAM onboard. In particular, this Swiss store started accepting orders already. They are offering this card for $570. Well, it looks as if there was not so much time left before we all see real GeForce3 based graphics accelerators live. They are most likely to appear right after the official launching of NV20 on 27 February.
The mentioned price-list also offers some general info on the upcoming GeForce3 based cards. The memory frequency on Hercules 3D Prophet III as well as on other analogous products will make 460MHz and the core frequency – 200MHz.
And in conclusion we would like to offer you a great change to see the sacred box. Check out the photo here.
Well, besides a really optimistic picture, this photo shows that the memory chips on GeForce3 are also equipped with heatsinks, just like in case of GeForce2 Ultra, and the chip is provided with a Blue Orb-like cooler.
