AMD Athlon processors working at 1.2GHz and supporting 266MHz FSB have finally appeared in Japanese retail stores. These CPUs are selling for around $340, which is $23 cheaper than the official AMD’s cost for 1,000-unit quantities. This is a really good sign, because if something starts selling in Japan, then there is not so much waiting left till we also are able to see them in retail. As for European and American stores, they expect these CPUs only in the second week of February. Unfortunately, Athlon 266 processors with lower clock frequencies (1.1GHz and 1GHz) haven’t yet been noticed anywhere. However, we are pretty much sure that they will turn up in the nearest future.
