Heise Online posted an interesting news item reveling the real state of things with Intel’s 64bit processor – Itanium. According to them, it will take this CPU another considerable while, before it finally comes out. Although there was some hope that the current processor version, B3-step, would be the final one and would be launched in Q1 2001, the recent info coming from sources close to Intel states, that this is hardly possible. Itanium will undergo another series of enhancements, or even two, before it will be ready for launching. Surely, this is very likely to take place not earlier than in Q2 only, or will last even longer.
