As you may have heard already, NV20 is rumored to be dissipating up to 15W of heat. Of course, there is some hope that due to 0.15 micron manufacturing technology of NV20, everything appears not that bad at all. Nevertheless, Hercules took good care of proper cooling for its new graphics products well in advance. Hercules is said to have chosen Thermaltake’s Blue Orb as a cooling solution for their NVIDIA NV20 based card, as to Insane Hardware. The upcoming graphics card will be equipped with a special version of Blue Orb cooler, which will be 13mm in height (the regular Blue Orb is 25mm), not to obstruct the neighboring PCI and AGP slots.
We also learned that Guillemot-Hercules Company is planning to start shipping NV20 based products during the third week of February 2001.
