When we told you about Intel’s nearest plans concerning the launching of Transmeta CPU killers, we got extremely interested in the possible response to this move on Transmeta’s part. How is the company going to protect its market positions?
Well, according to this info, in this quarter Transmeta is about to announce new versions of its TM5600 processors working at 667 and 700MHz and to update its Code Morfing Software to version 4.2. Later on the company is going to introduce TM5800 CPUs working at 800MHz. These ones will be manufactured on IBM’s fabs with 0.13 micron technology.
By the way, here we should point out that in the nearest future AMD will also launch its mobile solution: mobile Duron processor. So, the competition in the mobile market promises to be as intense as last year. Although as far as power consumption goes, AMD will hardly be able to compete wit Transmeta and Intel...
