Many mainboard manufacturers have already announced their DDR Socket370 solutions based on VIA Apollo Pro266 core logic. Since this chipset supports both: PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM and PC100/PC133 SDRAM, some mainboard makers designed products featuring 184-pin DIMM slots for DDR memory as well as 168-pin DIMM slots for SDR SDRAM. Among these manufacturers we should mention: MSI, Shuttle, Biostar and Chaintech. ASUS was also going to introduce a similar product: CUV266. The sample shown during COMDEX/Fall 2000 was said to be equipped with 3 DDR and 2 SDR slots. In fact, the first mainboard samples marked as rev. 1.00 were exactly like that. However, later ASUS faced some stability issues and had to remove SDR SDRAM slots from the mainboard. As a result, Rev. 1.02, which is very likely to start selling in the beginning, will have only 3 DDR DIMM slots. Nevertheless, this mainboard can boast a number of exciting features, such as easy overclocking, 6-channel integrated sound and iPanel support. The full specification and pictures of CUV266 Rev. 1.02 are available here on our scoop page. Besides, you can also find a good pic of ASUS iPanel Deluxe over there.
