We managed to get some info on the upcoming products from Elitegroup (ECS). In the first place the company plans to introduce new products on VIA Apollo Pro266 and for Pentium 4 processor. However, at the same time ECS doesn’t forget about the mainboard built on SiS chipsets and some others. Here are the details:
- P6VPM. This is a Socket370 mainboard based on VIA Apollo Pro266. it is designed in MicroATX form-factor. The board features 2 DIMM slots, 1 AGP slot and 3 PCI slots. It is due in the end of January.
- P6VPA. This is one more Socket370 mainboard on VIA Apollo Pro266 chipset. However, unlike the previous one, it will be an ATX product. It will be equipped with both: 2 DDR DIMM slots and 2 SDR DIMM slots at the same time, which will provide certain flexibility when selecting the memory type for your system. The expansion slots include 1 AGP, 1 ACR and 5 PCI slots. The mainboard should come out in February.
- P7ICA. This is a Socket423 mainboards (for Intel Pentium 4 CPUs) based on i850 chipset. The mainboard is expected to be announced in April.
- P6S5A. This Socket370 product has every chance to become the first mainboard on SiS635 chipset, the first DDR chipset from SiS. ECS is planning to announce this mainboard before the end of Q1 2001. P6S5A will be provided with 3 184-pin DIMM slots for PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM, 1 AGP and 5 PCI slots.
- K7S5A. This newcomer will turn up in March-April. Like the previously described product, it will be also based on a DDR chipset from SiS, though this time it will be a different chipset: SiS735, supporting Socket A CPUs. Other than that the specs are just the same as those of the other SiS chipset based mainboard.
So, ESC seems to be doing its best not to fall behind the today’s most famous mainboard makers. And as for the SiS chipsets used in ESC’s products, the company deserves being called a pioneer here.
