We managed to get some info from one of the Taiwanese memory modules manufacturer concerning the new DDR SDRAM prices (FOB Taiwan). According to the price-list of a company, which preferred to remain unknown, 128MB PC2100 DIMM modules built on Hyundai or Samsung chips cost $135, and 256MB - $270. So, it turns out that the retail prices for PC2100 DDR SDRAM, which we all see now result from the extreme shortage of these modules. Therefore, the retailers do their best to get the maximum revenues from the highly demanded product. Nevertheless, the retail prices have dropped a bit this week. Now the 128MB PC2100 DDR module is available at the minimum of $179, according to Pricewatch. At the same time, the lowest price of a 256MB DDR SDRAM DIMM module is much higher: $384. However, we expect the prices to reduce even more as soon as DDR memory gets spread over a wider territory.
