According to what we saw over at 3D Concept, S3 will be aiming its future products mostly at the mobile market as well as at integrating into chipset North Bridges. Discrete graphics chips from S3 will be only for mobile solutions and that’s it. Nothing more.
In the end of 2001 Paramount will come out. This graphics core will be manufactured with 0.18 micron technology and will work at 150MHz clock frequency. The memory interface will be 64bit and will support DDR. There will be only 1 rendering pipeline with 2 texturing units. Besides, it will also support DuoView technology similar to TwinView. This solution will be used as a discrete and integrated mobile. Moreover, it may be used in Matthew II.
The next thing to come will be Zoetrope featuring a faster graphics core working at 166MHz+ and manufactured with 0.15 micron technology. It will be equipped with 2 rendering pipelines, each provided with 2 texturing units. Besides, it will also support T&L engine and DuoView technology. Judging by these features, only Zoetrope will perform close to NVIDIA GeForce2 Go. It is expected to come out in the end of 2001 at the earliest.
And the last innovation from S3 will be Columbia, which is due around the early 2002. It will be manufactured with 0.13 micron technology, and will feature 4 rendering pipelines. The working frequency will make over 300MHz as well as that of a 128bit DDR memory.
