According to our sources in Taiwan, VIA Technologies is going to introduce WLAN (wireless local area network) chips before the end of the year. After the acquisition of CDMA Standard Products Design Center, which used to belong to LSI logic, VIA decided to enter the communications market with WLAN, GPRS and CDMA chips. But WLAN is most likely to come out earlier than any other communicational solutions from VIA.

Also VIA is expected to single out a special division dealing with WLAN, GPRS and CDMA chips even before the first products of the kind come out. This new structure will also include the American VIA Telecom.
