Well, I have to admit that sometimes ATI manages to achieve really impressive results in terms of winning new partners for its graphics cards business. A few days ago, for instance, Crucial, Micron’s division dealing with the production and sales of the memory modules, announced that they are willing to enter the graphics card market. The first and so far the only graphics card they offered appeared a RADEON 8500LE based solution, which is quite strange I should say. Crucial RADEON 8500LE will go with 128MB DDR memory from Micron onboard working at 333MHz. The card is already available for order on Crucial’s web-site for $135.
To tell the truth, it is not the specs of the Crucial graphics card that surprise us most. On the contrary, we could have expected more from the high-quality memory maker producing excellent solutions for overclocking needs. The surprising thing is different: this is the first case since 1990, when a company dealing with the memory business decides to enter the graphics market. And it is only ATI, who deserves all the laurels. This chips maker is searching for new partners with so much enthusiasm that we are witnessing more and more new names coming to this business. Although, ATI used to look for new partners only among the mainboard makers. But, they are not going to stop…<%BANNER[article]%>
I wonder if ATI manages to win someone from the storage business to make graphics cards for them as well :)
