GeForce4 Ti4400 Going to Morgue?

If we trust the report made by this site, then the graphics card developers partnering with NVIDIA are little by little terminating the production and shipments of the graphics cards based on GeForce4 Ti4400 chips. And it may mean only one thing: NVIDIA stopped shipping the chipsets to the graphics card makers.

In fact, there is nothing to be surprised at here. According to the Taiwanese manufacturers, the demand for GeForce4 Ti4400 left much to be desired. The users preferred either a high-performance GeForce4 Ti4600 or a much cheaper GeForce4 Ti4200. Moreover, some manufacturers simply ruined the market for GeForce4 Ti440 themselves, having launched their Ti4200 based solutions following GeForce4 Ti4600 reference design.<%BANNER[article]%>

As a result, very soon there will be only two models left in the market: GeForce4 Ti4200 and GeForce4 Ti4600. Besides, our previous experience shows that Ti4600 might last not very long this way. This model is most likely to sink into oblivion by the end of the year having given way to some solution based on the new NV30 architecture.
