Elpida Company (NEC and Hitachi joint venture) announced the availability of the test samples of their new low-profile PC2100 DDR SDRAM Registered ECC DIMM module with 2GB capacity.
This module (EBD21RD4ABNA part number) is built of 512Mbit Elpida chips made with 0.13micron technology and packed into TSOP. The module is only 1.2inch high, which allows using it in 1U rack-mount servers. Its mass shipments are to start in Q4 2002.
