As we read over here, TSMC and UMC Companies reported their June results this year. Everything is summed up in a table below for your convenience:
| Revenues, million NT dollars | ||
|---|---|---|
| Parameter | TSMC | UMC |
| June 2002 | 15.615 | 6.711 |
| Compared with May 2002 | 2.7% | 1.2% |
| Compared with May 2001 | 83.4% | 58.4% |
| H1 2002 | 79.972 | 30.738 |
| Compared with H1 2001 | 21.5% | -20.4% |
| Q2 2002 | 44.182 | 18.631 |
| Compared with Q1 2002 | 23.4% | 53.2% |
In fact, I don’t think you need any long comments of ours here: the data in the table above is very illustrative. I would only like to point out the most important thing: both companies are little by little recovering from an awful crisis last spring. However, TSMC is doing a bit better than the competitor. The reason of this success lies with a much more "impressive" customer list including such companies as NVIDIA, ATi, and VIA.
