Prolink Microsystems announced the first PCI TV-tuner card aka PixelView DTV3000. However, this time this is a tuner for satellite television. The remarkable thing is that this tuner is capable of receiving not only regular TV channels but also the encoded ones. For this purpose the card is equipped with a corresponding with a slot for smart cards. The chipset used in this novelty is Conexant 878A

PixelView DTV3000 uses DVB-S interface. It means that it supports MPEG2 video and audio format. The frequencies it can receive range between 950MHz and 2150MHz. besides real time recording it can also record on timer and allow setting a list of selected channels. The device also supports teletext. The solution comes with an optional remote control unit. The price of the product hasn’t been yet disclosed, unfortunately.
