This Chinese site put up some high-quality pictures of a graphics card based on the upcoming ATI R300 chip (RADEON 9700?). They also have got some pictures of the RV250 based solution, which should be announced on July 17, as we have already told you in our news (see this news story). Although the latter is certainly less interesting.
If you check the pictures (see here), you will notice one very interesting detail, which was absent by the cards showcased at Computex 2002 in Taipei this year. I am talking about the additional power supply connector (if you remember, they also used it on the Voodoo5 5500, which sank into oblivion long time ago already). <%BANNER[article]%>
Well, the increase in the number of on-chip transistors used will definitely affect the power consumption of the chip. There are 107 million of them in the upcoming R300 chip (see this news story). By the way, NVIDIA NV30 chip is rumored to have even more transistors: 120 million, so the problem of excessive "power hunger" will also touch upon NVIDIA’s engineers, for sure.
