RV250 - Radeon 9000!

If we take the info coming from C.P.Technology owning PowerColor trade mark and being one of the major manufacturers of ATI based graphics cards for granted, the new upcoming chip of the latter targeted for the Value market and known as RV250 will be officially called RADEON 9000 (or RADEON 9000 Pro). The working frequencies of ATI RV250 based products will make 275MHz for the chip and 550MHz for the memory.

This info cropped up after the announcement of RV25A-B3 graphics card from PowerColor, which is based on this particular chip. BTW, the latter is officially due only on July 17, as we have already mentioned in our news.<%BANNER[article]%>

If this info is correct (and it really looks like correct), then I could probably draw a few additional conclusions:

• The working frequencies of the graphics cards based on RADEON 9000 and made by ATI itself will probably equal to 300MHz chip and 600MHz memory.
• The cards on RADEON 9000 from other manufacturers will be a bit slower: 275MHz chip and 550MHz memory (this is common practice for ATI).
• It is quite possible that later on the public will push ATI to release RADEON 9000LE chip with the official frequency of 275MHz instead of 300MHz.
• One of our previous suppositions about the possible name of the new chip turned out true :)
